As part of our “pre-Canada farewell journey”, we are right now in Pato Branco, country side of the state of Paraná. I live here for 10 years and did the high school as well as the graduation (both at UTFPR) besides several nice friends I keep in touch with.
It is substantially rewarding to know that all places we’ve been to, we always have true friends, people who never forget us. About 10 years ago I left Pato Branco to start a new life in Florianopolis. I must confess that I’ve never missed living in Pato Branco, but I’ve missed a lot being with my friends.
Over these 10 years, I tried to be here at least once a year. It is not that much, but the minimum to keep the friendships alive. It is quite common to hear people saying that distance makes friendships go away, but fortunately that’s not my case. Despite the distance, friendships remain as I’d never left. I’m not sure if this is the rule or the exception, but it is my reality and I thank God for that.
Now I’m moving even farther, but that doesn’t mean I intent not coming here anymore. Pato Branco is already in my list of mandatory cities to visit when I’m visiting Brazil.
These days here have been great so far. We arrived here on Saturday, 16, and went straight to the Max & Michele’s wedding (congratulations!!!). On Sunday morning we met the newlyweds and had lunch with them. Then we went directly to my dear goddaughter’s house. They were waiting for us with a bunch of delicious “coxinhas“, something we won’t have in Canada. After that we went to Fábio and Ligi’s house where we had barbecue (superb). It’s been quite complicate to keep up with my loosing-weight routine, but I’ll make these exceptions for our friendship.
To my “pato branquenses” friends I’d like to say I’m happy because of our friendship. We’ll be waiting for your visit in Canada. You don’t have even to worry about the winter, there is also summer. There are no bears wandering on the streets and people don’t live in igloos.

It is good to know that the city we’ve chosen to live is well positioned in the ranking (first place
), we can say it is a good choice.
